The NRG SRA System is a turnkey solution for the early prospecting, formal resource assessment, and performance monitoring stages of utility-scale PV project development and operation. These systems deliver accurate, site-specific data via an integrated package that is easy to install and maintain. All relevant meteorological conditions are captured, including solar radiation, wind speed and direction, ambient temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, and precipitation.

Modeled after our Wind Resource Assessment Systems, each SRA System is made up of three components and includes everything necessary for your measurement campaign: tower, logger, and sensors—pre-configured and ready to ship within days of order placement. Our complete package approach ensures that the entire system arrives together, at one time—simplifying installation schedules and saving you time and money.

Easy to transport, assemble, and install, the SRA System ships as a complete package to the location of your choice. The system can be quickly and easily deployed by two people in under four hours, and is designed for redeployment in multiple locations.

Note: While we strive to make this process as easy as possible, proper setup and ongoing regular maintenance of the system are critical to produce meaningful resource assessment results. Most importantly, this entails cleaning pyranometers routinely (e.g., as frequently as every week depending on the site).

The NRG SRA System comes in four different sensor configurations, each built around a pair of pyranometers that provide redundant measurements of Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI). In the standard configuration both pyranometers are secured to a horizontal mounting platform located on top of the tower. Adjustable plane-of-array (“POA”) booms that enable you to gather data at the angle of your prospective PV arrays are also available as an optional feature. Each pyranometer model integrates seamlessly with the SymphoniePRO®️ Data Logger via a Signal Conditioning Module (P-SCM).
Available in four different configurations, our SRA Systems include everything necessary for your solar measurement campaign -tower, logger, and sensors- pre-configured and ready to ship within days of order placement. Our complete package approach ensures that the entire system arrives together, at one time -simplifying installation schedules and saving you time and money. By selecting a SRA System instead of purchasing individual components, you will enjoy significant cost savings:
Secondary Standard (SS) SRA System configuration: Recommended for finance-grade resource assessment campaigns and solar monitoring applications when measurement accuracy is the top priority. This configuration includes two Hukseflux SR20 Pyranometers that deliver accurate solar radiation measurements traceable to the highest category in the ISO 9060 standard: secondary standard.
First Class (FC) SRA System configuration: Recommended for finance-grade resource assessment campaigns. This configuration includes two Hukseflux SR11 Pyranometers that deliver accurate solar radiation measurements traceable to ISO 9060 first class criteria.
Second Class (SC) SRA System configuration: Recommended for resource assessment campaigns. This configuration includes two Hukseflux LP02 Pyranometers that deliver accurate solar radiation measurements traceable to ISO 9060 second class criteria.
Li-Cor Photodiode SRA System configuration: Recommended for early stage solar resource prospecting. This configuration includes two Li-Cor LI-200R photodiode pyranometers that deliver solar radiation measurements via a small current signal.
Note: The NRG SRA System can accommodate all industry-standard thermopile pyranometers in place of one of our pre-configured sensor kits, and these kits can be easily customized to meet your project’s needs. Customers looking to collect multiple radiation components (e.g., diffuse radiation in addition to GHI) can optionally add the SPN1 Sunshine Pyranometer from Delta-T to their system. Do not hesitate to contact our sales team for pricing on the SPN1 or to discuss other sensor substitutions.
Each SRA System package comes with our 2.2m Tower. Designed specifically for solar resource assessment, this tower facilitates top-mounted pyranometers for unimpeded solar radiation measurements, while keeping these sensors within a step ladder’s reach for routine maintenance. The 2.2m Tower includes a steel base plate, guy wires, anchors, and all necessary hardware components for tower assembly. Three duckbill anchors secure the tower even in uneven terrain, and a four foot copper-clad steel rod provides earth grounding.

All our SRA Systems include the following components:

  • One (1) 40H Hall Effect anemometer
  • One (1) 200P wind direction vane
  • One (1) 110S temperature sensor with radiation shield
  • One (1) BP20 barometric pressure sensor
  • One (1) RH5X relative humidity sensor
  • One (1) Tipping bucket rain gauge with mounting platform
  • Two (2) Galvanized steel side mount booms with clamps, 1.5m (60.5″)
  • One (1) Mounting Platform for two GHI Pyranometers
  • One (1) 2.2m Tower with hardware including three duckbill anchors
  • One (1) SymphoniePRO 26-channel data logger
  • All necessary Pro Signal Conditioning Modules and cables
  • One (1) Symphonie Shelter Box | FRP with mounting hardware
  • SymphoniePRO Desktop Application (SDR) software: free download
  • SD card and iPackGPS sold separately
  • Optional plane-of-array mounting

As several sensors included in our SRA Systems require an excitation voltage to function properly, you must include a Symphonie iPack in your system to supply the necessary power. Each iPack utilizes a tower-mounted 15 W PV panel that continuously replenishes the SRA System’s batteries, enabling long-term autonomous operation of the system. Also, if your choice was any of our iPackGPS, the system would enable automated data transfer and remote two-way communications.

Our SRA Systems are completed with the following sensors, depending on the configuration preferred:

• Secondary Standard SRA System (p/n 9118-9117-9121): Above mentioned parts and two (2) Hukseflux SR20 pyranometers.

• First Class SRA System (p/n 9118-9117-9120): Above mentioned parts and two (2) Hukseflux SR11 pyranometers.

• Second Class SRA System (p/n 9118-9117-9119): Above mentioned parts and two (2) Hukseflux LP02 pyranometers.

• Photodiode SRA System (p/n 9118-9117-9156): Above mentioned parts and two (2) Li-Cor LI-200R photodiode pyranometers.
