Tubular Booms mount sensors away from your tubular tower to minimize tower-induced flow distortions.

Their robust, dual-beam support structures are made from galvanized steel to resist corrosion. The booms come with a self-aligning mounting bracket that is easily hose-clamped to the tower, ensuring that the sensor maintains a 90 degree vertical orientation.

These booms can mount one NRG 200P Wind Vane, NRG 40C Anemometer, NRG 40H Anemometer, or NRG Class 1 Anemometer right out of the box. WindSensor Adapter Kits and a Thies Adapter Kit are available for mounting the WindSensor P2546-OPR Anemometer and Thies First Class Advanced Anemometer. Our 16” Stub Mast and 13” Z Mast Boom extensions can be used to lengthen the boom.

Mounting Boom, 2.4m (95”)

Our most popular boom, the 2.4m Tubular Boom mounts sensors away from any 8” to 10” diameter tower to minimize tower-induced flow distortions. The sensor extension mounts anemometers and wind vanes at a minimum of 20 boom diameters above the horizontal arm, which meets industry IEC 61400-12-1:2017 recommendations for tower and boom offset distances.
Weight: 3.6 kg (8 pounds)
Diameter: 12.7 mm (0.5 inches)
Material: Galvanized steel
Sensor compatibility:
· P/N 4214: NRG Anemometers and Wind Vanes.
· P/N 4478: WindSensor P2546-OPR. Thies FCA when a Thies adapter #9344 is included.

Mounting Boom, 2.87m (113”)

The longest length boom that we offer, the 2.87m Tubular Boom meets or exceeds industry IEC 61400-12-1 recommendations for tower and boom offset distances.
This heavy duty boom comes with mounting plates and u-bolts to attach the boom to the tower and uses our 16” stub mast for sensor mounting.
Weight: 8.8 kg (19.3 pounds)
Diameter: 33 mm (1.3 inches)
Offset distance: 2.62 m (103 inches)
Material: Galvanized steel
Sensor compatibility: NRG Anemometers and Wind Vanes.
Part Number: 3259

Mounting Boom, Goalpost

The NRG Goalpost Boom mounts a pair of either WindSensor P2546-OPR or Thies First Class Anemometers on the NRG 80m XHD TallTower. Mounting one of both sensors is also an option. Anemometer cups are positioned at exactly 80 m above ground level, 2.5 m away from each other and 1.99 m above the horizontal arm of the boom. This configuration complies with guidelines provided in Annex G of the IEC 61400-12-1:2005 standard when installed on NRG 80m XHD TallTower, a solution that is well suited for performing power performance tests at operating wind farms.
Weight: 28.7 kg (63 pounds)
Diameter: 48.3 mm (1.9 inches)
Material: Galvanized steel
Sensor compatibility: WindSensor P2546-OPR. Thies FCA.
Part Number: 10749 (Thies FCA) / 10750 (WindSensor) / 11706 (Thies FCA + WindSensor)
